In FBLA you can participate in various school community service projects. This is a special way to help out the community. Examples from this year: Halloween Party for The Evans HomeWe gave a Halloween party for The Evans Children's Home, a local home for kids with no family. We set up games such as carving pumpkins, ghost walk and a beanbag toss. We also had oodles of candy and food for them to eat while they were there. It was truly a good and fun time.
Christmas gifts for the Child Parent CenterFBLA members signed up to give kids from the Child Parent Center gifts for Christmas. We received many generous donations from the business community and the students at our school. This was an exciting time when we gave another person gifts he or she might not otherwise receive.
Bowl - a - Thon for ASKThis exciting activity was fun and productive for us and the ASK foundation. ASK is the Association for the Support of Childhood Cancer. We raised donations and all of the money goes to this worthwhile foundation.
FBLA-PBL WeekDuring FBLA week the James Wood High School FBLA chapter heightened awareness about the organization. "Leading the Way to Y2K" was the theme. Business teachers received special treatment. Officers and members placed a pencil and a card in mailboxes of all faculty members that read "From the FBLA. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. In honor of Vocational Education Week." Members of FBLA each recieved candy and a pencil in celebration of Vocational Education Week.
